With the upcoming release of DuckTales on Disney XD, fans have been wondering if/when Darkwing Duck would make a return to the small screen.

The answer is soon.

During the Disney XD presentation at the San Diego Comic-Con, fans learned that Duckburg is about to get a little more dangerous – AS PART OF THE DUCKTALES UNIVERSE!

In the last incarnation of the Disney Afternoon animated block of shows, Darkwing Duck was in a different universe, even though Darkwing and DuckTales shared several characters, including Launchpad McQuack. Now, when DuckTales debuts, the two will finally be reunited (and it feels so good).

Here is the frustrating part – there is no word on when Darkwing Duck will make his debut. What’s even more hush-hush is whether or not Darkwing will appear on DuckTales only, or if he gets his own series.

Darkwing Duck debuted on the Disney Channel in 1991 as part of the Disney Afternoon, and ran to 1992. In total, 91 episodes were released between the Disney Afternoon and ABC Saturday Morning runs.

The DuckTales reboot debuts on Disney XD on August 12, 2017.
