For almost a year now, Duke Thomas has been zipping up his yellow leather suit and helmet and going on adventures with Batman. Now it is time for the hero to get a code name and a new series from DC Comics.

Announced at the San Diego Comic Con, Duke Thomas’ new series  will be (and code name) will be called The Signal. Instead of operating at night, The Signal will become Gotham’s hero by day.

Batman: The Signal will be written by Scott Snyder and Tony Patrick. At this time no release date or artist has been announced for the series.

Considering his costume has always looked like the Batsignal, this code name makes sense. With the number of appearances Duke has had in the Batman books, I’m surprised his own series wasn’t announced sooner.

What do you think Duke fans? Do you like the name or hate it? Will you pick up the new series when it debuts?
