Marvel’s female stand alone film is going back and time, as Captain Marvel will take us back to the ’90s to take on the Skrulls.

Here is the most interesting thing about the announcement – the Skrulls appeared in Fantastic Four #2 in 1961. For years, we’ve assumed (correctly) that the Skrulls went with the Fantastic Four when 20th Century Fox acquired the rights to the FF.  With the appearance of the Skrulls, and the announced Doctor Doom stand alone film, we wonder if Kevin Feige’s pronouncement that the Fantastic Four would never appear in the MCU was all a ruse?

Nick Fury (played by Samuel L. Jackson) will also appear in the movie, but without the eye patch. I wonder if we’ll learn how he lost the eye in this movie?

Captain Marvel is directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck and is schedule to arrive in theaters on March 8, 2018.
