In parsing the feedback from ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, one thing that keeps catching my attention are the people who are impressed by how well Tom Holland passes for a real teenage kid, reminding me that the general public may not recall that Spider-Man started out as a kid hero. The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) finds Bubbles cloying and Buttercups poseury, but has great respect for Blossom’s balancing act of leader, big sis and finger-painting prodigy, asking: Which kid hero would you be every bit as happy to be saved by as any grown-up?
