PRESS RELEASE –
Lion Forge kicks off the road to Comic Con International today with news that Andrea Colvin, formerly Senior Editor of Roar Comics and CubHouse Comics, has been promoted to Vice President – Executive Editor, following the transition of Executive Editor Mark Smylie to Contributing Editor.
“Lion Forge’s mission of ‘comics for everyone’ has been a goal close to my heart for a long time, particularly in the children’s and teens’ comic spaces, which is why I jumped at the chance to join the company as part of its Roar and CubHouse lines” says Andrea Colvin, newly minted Vice President – Executive Editor. “Now, especially given the enthusiastic reception Lion Forge has enjoyed not only in the comics community but in the larger publishing marketplace, I’m delighted to be extending my responsibilities to support all of the titles we publish, including the groundbreaking Catalyst Prime Universe headed up by Joe Illidge and the gorgeous Magnetic Collection titles curated by Mike Kennedy. And most of all I’m honored to help further Dave Steward II’s vision of making comics that truly do speak to and represent everyone.”
“Andrea is the right person, at the right time for us as a publisher, for graphic literature for young people, and for the industry,” said Lion Forge President Geoff Gerber. “She gets the rich heritage of sequential art that comic books have offered for generations, leading to innovations in the medium that many book trade publishers miss. She also knows the best practices that more traditional publishers have employed to reliably deliver quality content in changing economic environments. We are lucky to have found someone who can continue expanding our catalog with creator-driven content while keeping up with our extraordinary pace of growth.”
Andrea Colvin was previously VP of Content, Book Division, for Andrews McMeel, where she co-founded the AMP! line of Middle Grade graphic novels; Director of Publishing Operations for Open Road Integrated Media; as well as Executive Managing Editor for ABRAMS. She served as an Adjunct Professor in NYU’s Graduate Publishing Program in 2011 and completed the Yale University Publishing Course in 2013.
