IT’S NEW COMIC BOOK DAY! #NCBD

The best day of the week just got a lot better with a new round of awesome comics arriving in stores this week. Staff members at Major Spoilers are here to help you with your comic book selection this week, with their roundup of comics they recommend.

BABYTEETH #1
Writer: Donny Cates
Artist: Garry Brown
Publisher: Aftershock Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: NEW SERIES! Sadie Ritter is sixteen years old, nine months pregnant, and scared out of her sweet nerdy mind. Having a baby that young is tough, but with the support of her loving family behind her, everything should be okay. OH YEAH, and also her baby is the antichrist and it’s going to break open the barriers between the earthly and demonic planes and unleash eternal suffering to all of humankind. Other than that, though…should be fine. From the writer of Buzzkill, Paybacks, Redneck and the break-out hit God Country comes a pulse-pounding new series with art from THE REVISIONIST’s Garry Brown!

CHRIS: Just what we’ve all been waiting for! Rosemary’s baby in comic form! Oh, just me? As a horror fan, I really want to read this. Especially since Donny Cates’ God Country is crazy good. Aftershock has been killing it with their releases lately and I hope this continues the trend.

BALTIMORE THE RED KINGDOM #5
Writer: Mike Mignola, Christopher Golden
Artist: Peter Bergting
Publisher: Dark Horse Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: Lives are lost as Baltimore leads the final push against the Red King’s armies.

STEPHEN: This series has been a slow burner for years, and it looks like the S has finally hit the fan. Can’t wait to see how this series wraps. There will be characters that live, those that die, and those that will be changed forever.

BATMAN #24
Writer: Tom King
Artist: Danny Miki, David Finch
Publisher: DC Comics
Cover Price: $2.99
SOLICITATION: “Aftermath”! Gotham City is at peace…but a war is coming. Armed with the terrifying knowledge gained from the mysterious button, Batman prepares for the coming storm by making a proposition to one of his enemies—one that will change everything for the Dark Knight and his allies!

STEPHEN: I love the interaction between Batman and Gotham Girl, and how the conversation about doing things that scare you isn’t really a conversation about Gotham Girl becoming a hero, but rather a different kind of proposal Bruce Wayne has in mind. A really good issue. Definitely worth picking up this week for nothing more than some Silver Age Earth-2 Feels.

DARK KNIGHT III MASTER RACE #9
Writer: Frank Miller, Brian Azzarello
Artist: Andy Kubert
Publisher: DC Comics
Cover Price: $5.99
SOLICITATION: The epic conclusion to DARK KNIGHT III: THE MASTER RACE is here from the all-star creative team of Frank Miller, Brian Azzarello, Andy Kubert and Klaus Janson! This is Earth’s last stand. Quar’s Kryptonian Army has conquered the planet, but Batman and his allies don’t believe the world is beyond saving. They’ll rally once more against Quar and save the world or die trying.

CHRIS: It’s finally here. Thanks to constant delays, it has taken over a year for this series to finish. It’s been a roller coaster and I’m anxious to see its conclusion, be it good or bad.

REAL SCIENCE ADVENTURES FLYING SHE-DEVILS #3
Writer: Brian Clevinger
Artist: Lo Baker
Publisher: IDW Publishing
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: Horsefeathers! Those pirates of Mad Jack’s have cornered the Flying She-Devils! How are they gonna get out of this one? Gee-willickers! Meanwhile, will the Sparrow save the day for the Allies? I hope so!

STEPHEN: Spinning out of the pages of Atomic Robo are the continuing adventures of the Flying She-Devils! If it is set in the Atomic Robo Universe and written by Brian Clevinger, it is a must read. Definitely can’t wait to read this one.

REBORN #6 (OF 6)
Writer: Mark Millar
Artist: Greg Capullo, Jonathan Glapion
Publisher: Image Comics
Cover Price: $5.99
SOLICITATION: MINI-SERIES FINALE! The big finale of the smash-hit MILLAR-CAPULLO series REBORN is here. The action-packed climax sees Bonnie taking revenge on past enemies and finding her husband Harry, with Big Tom and Roy-Boy by her side.

CHRIS: Another series conclusion that I’ve been waiting for! Much like Huck, Reborn has been a Mark Millar book that doesn’t read like a typical Mark Millar book. Greg Capullo has always been a favorite of mine and he’s at the top of his game here.
