A recent movie discussion at work about ‘Superman: The Movie’ brought up an interesting point: While Gene Hackman’s Lex Luthor was nothing like the authentic comic Luthor, he was both memorable and entertaining in the role. My coworkers were entertained by my descriptions of Silver Age comic book Luthor and the myriad of things that made Gene’s Lex different, but even I had to admit it was a fun role to watch. Part of my well-defined aversion for comic book adaptations falls squarely on the difficulty in achieving accuracy with the source material, but many of those attempts (such as the Saturday morning TV version of ‘Shazam’) are entirely wrong but right in their own way, leading to today’s subjective query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) still finds the cartoon adventures of The Superfriends to be wonderful for what they are, while being completely inaccurate for the JLA of the comics, asking: What bits of pop culture do you find wrong but right in their own way?

“Star Trek: Enterprise”. I can see both why it is the most hated entry in the franchise for some fans, and the most liked by some others. There is something off about the series to me as a “Star Trek” series, but I do find it enjoyable as a general sci-fi series.
George Reeves’ Superman. Its different to pretty much everything that’s currently Superman, but its actually how he was meant to be before any of that current stuff happened.
The Flash: TV Show
The show is largely taking the story and personality of Wally West and mashing it with Barry Allen. I love how it is done, but I also loved the Wally West run of the Flash when he started Post-Crisis. Barry was boring and should have stayed dead.
