One of the joys of fatherhood is when your kid discovers your cool old stuff. My daughter Widget has stolen my “old-school” MP3 player and even my PS2, but this week she found the treasure trove: Guitar Hero and my custom ‘red Fender with flames’ game controller. She now wants to visit the used game store and get more songs to play, proving that one man’s trash is often a 12-year-old’s favorite thing and leading to today’# vintage query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) really needs to clean out my office, especially the stack of circa-2000 DC Direct action figures, asks: What example of One Man’s Trash is YOUR personal treasure?

My original Nintendo NES I got as a kid in 1988. Works perfectly.
Probably close to half my Star Wars action figure collection, which has been acquired over many, many years from various yard sales, flea markets and other secondhand places. I even have several loose but otherwise like-new figures from the old toylines of the late 70’s – mid 80’s (including an ESB Yoda with cloth robe, little cane and brown snake accessories) that were found for far, far less than they are worth (like finding a figure worth $50 for a mere 75 cents).
My run of 90’s X-Men and Uncanny X-Men from the time the Blue and Gold teams were started (X-Men #1 and Uncanny #281) until the Revolution relaunch in 2000…”Nostalgia is a hell of a drug”
Ain’t it just?
