The lackluster box office performance of the live action Ghost in the Shell isn’t stopping Production I.G. from beginning production on a new Ghost in the Shell anime.

Little is known about the project at this point, except that Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki are directing the feature. Both Kamiyama and Aramaki have extensive anime directing credits including Ghost in the Shell SF and Appleseed and Evangelion series.

As of this posting, the live action Ghost in the Shell from Paramount has made $26 million domestically ($76 million worldwide) against a $110 million budget.
