Very interesting discussion on comics distribution and buying. It got me thinking about how I buy my comics, and I’d like to share.
Some background: I’m about the same age as Rodrigo, have a ton of disposable income, and live in the greater Seattle area. I’m a trade waiter and almost never buy single issues. On an annual basis I’m buying more comics then I feel comfortable saying.
In the order of $ spent this is where I buy my comics:
35% Amazon
30% Kickstarter
20% Conventions
13% Local Book Store
2% Comic Store
I’m reading mostly Japanese comics, and light novels, these days which make up most of my Amazon & local book store purchases. I’m also a big Indie comics fan, predominantly supporting on Kickstarter (7 pending books including Jupiter Jet!) and at my local conventions. Convention sales make up a surprising amount given I attend only two each year (wow, maybe I should cut back?)
