6) SURGE

Coca-Cola’s answer to Mountain Dew, I remember Surge from my youth as tasting pretty much the same as all the other green sodas.  That didn’t stop it from gaining enough fans to convince the creators to bring it back after years of absence circa 2014.  Now, if only we could do the same with Surge the DNAgent, created by Mark Evanier and Will Meugniot during the 80s independent comics boom.  A hotheaded artificial being, Surge and his cohorts in the DNAgents made for one of the most realistic and engaging super-groups I’ve ever encountered.  I’d dearly love to see it make the same kind of comeback with modern production techniques and the possibility of a fresh new audience.

About Author

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.
