One of the best things about modern meta-textual stories is the proliferation of stories that tell stories that tell stories, and so on and so forth… Welcome to Ten Things!
Whooshman-Bicarbonate Films, in conjunction with ‘An Amateur Comics Historian’ and Itchy and Scratchy, Presents:
TEN HEROES FROM SHOWS WITHIN SHOWS!
10) ROCK AND ROLL
We start out this time with some heavy meta, thanks to Dial H For Hero. In the 1980s series, Chris King and Vicki Grant found that their strange jewelry allowed them to dial up superheroic identities for one hour at a time. But shortly thereafter, the duo found themselves channeling the heroes created in-universe by their artist friend Nick, entering a really weird area. It was later discovered that the H-Dials were in fact stealing the powers of heroes from other dimensions (which led to some serious consequences for those heroes) playing in to the extended conceit that characters from some DC Earths were fictional characters on other DC Earths.

Good list! When I saw the topic, the Brown Hornet was the first thing to pop into my mind.
One fun also-ran that just popped into my head:
Captain Avenger – the character played by John Ritter’s character in the 1980 film Hero At Large. The story is about an actor playing a hero who stops a robbery in real life while wearing his hero costume, and all the things that fall out from that.
