3) THE TWO-GUN KID
Matt Hawk (aka Matt Liebowitz) is the second Two-Gun Kid in Marvel Comics history. In his first adventure, he takes on the identity of The Two-Gun Kid, referencing dime novel adventures about the original Kid, who starred in the first 59 issues of the book. Later, Hawk himself became the hero of dime novels referenced by modern heroes before time-traveling into the future to meet The Avengers. That makes him a cowboy hero from a dime novel within a comic inspired by a character from a dime novel within his comic… Extra meta!

Good list! When I saw the topic, the Brown Hornet was the first thing to pop into my mind.
One fun also-ran that just popped into my head:
Captain Avenger – the character played by John Ritter’s character in the 1980 film Hero At Large. The story is about an actor playing a hero who stops a robbery in real life while wearing his hero costume, and all the things that fall out from that.
