Last October, comiXology Originals was announced a new digital comics program for original comics available only on comiXology and Kindle. Valiant Entertainment has its first original mini-series hitting the service this week – Valiant High.

Valiant High presents a hilarious reimagining of Valiant’s award-winning superhero universe – one where the next world-ending cataclysm will have to wait until after prom night! Before they became legends, the world’s most formidable heroes were roaming the halls at Valiant High – a super-powered preparatory academy where Aric “X-O Manowar” Dacia is a record-setting running back, Colin “Ninjak” King is a debonair foreign exchange student, and Coach Bloodshot is way, way too into dodgeball. Now, Amanda “Livewire” McKee and her best friend, Faith “Zephyr” Herbert, are taking it all in for the first time at the one high school where power trumps popularity!

Before you get too worked up, this mini-series does take place outside of the Valiant continuity. Interestingly, this project is the brainchild of Stephen Colbert, Daniel Kibblesmith, Derek Charm, and David Baron.

“With Valiant High, readers everywhere will have fun seeing established Valiant characters like Faith, Ninjak, and X-O Manowar face the trials and tribulations of high school,” said Chip Mosher, comiXology’s Head of Content & Senior Director of Communications, “The creative team of Kibblesmith, Charm and Baron deliver a hilarious story that new readers will love, while also giving core Valiant fans a fresh way to enjoy their favorite characters.”

Valiant High #1 is available now for $3.99 on comiXology.
