ALL STAR BATMAN #7
Writer: Scott Snyder

SOLICITATION: “Poison Promises”! Step aside, gentlemen—Poison Ivy is about to steal the spotlight in Batman’s continuing rogues gallery road trip. Scott Snyder teams up with mega-talent Tula Lotay to reimagine the Dark Knight’s most seductive villain.
STEPHEN: A new look at Poison Ivy? Scott Snyder? Tula Lotay? Color me excited!
BLACK WIDOW #11
Writer: Chris Samnee, Mark Waid
Artist: Chris Samnee
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: INFESTATION!
• While Widow’s been collecting information, her enemy has been collecting allies.
• Natasha faces a full-scale invasion!
• What’s the target? And can Widow shield it on her own?
CHRIS: I’m pretty sure I read that issue twelve is the last one of this series and, if true, I’m going to cry a bit. There hasn’t been one issue that wasn’t solid, fun and a great read. I don’t know if it’s because of sales but this is a title that doesn’t deserve such a short run.
EMPOWERED: SOLDIER OF LOVE #1
Writer: Adam Warren
Artist: Karla Diaz
Publisher: Dark Hors Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: Love is tearing apart costumed crimefighter Empowered’s city, as the unearthly powers of an embittered “International Magical Girl of Mystery” covertly inflame the superheroic community’s burning passions. But even if a befuddled Emp can puzzle out her shadowy foe’s schemes, can she hope to prevail against the Soldier of Love?
MATTHEW: It’s a little weird, it’s a little kinky, but Empowered is one of the most well-constructed accidental universes in comics, with characters that feel like real people and a unique protagonist… I just wish it came out more often.
GREEN VALLEY #5
Writer: Max Landis
Artist: MarGiuseppe Camuncoli, Cliff Rathburn
Publisher: Image Comics
Cover Price: $2.99
SOLICITATION: “END OF THE LEGEND”-The Knights of Kelodia’s quest to rid Green Valley of the evil wizard Cyril takes an astonishing turn-and nothing in their lives will ever be the same.
CHRIS: I’m not a fan of the fantasy genre at all, but Max Landis is crafting a story that I never know where it is going next. Each issue brings a new surprise that I doubt anyone but Landis could see coming and it makes you want the next issue immediately. Plus, Camuncoli’s artwork is beautiful.
INFINITE SEVEN #1
Writer: Dave Dwonch
Artist: Arturo Mesa
Publisher: ACTION LAB – DANGER ZONE
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: For centuries, a secret world government has employed the INFINITE SEVEN, the world’s greatest assassins to do their dirty work. The only way to become one of their members is to prove your worth by killing one of their members. But what happens when Anthony Zane, a teenage boy from the suburbs does just that? Action hero archetypes are reimagined in what is sure to be the blockbuster series of the year!
ROB: After seeing the title I had to look. Premise is just ridiculous enough it could make for a fun and possibly interesting story. I’m gonna give it an issue at least.
JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA REBIRTH #1
Writer: Steve Orlando
Artist: Ivan Reis and Joe Prado
Publisher: DC Comics
Cover Price: $2.99
SOLICITATION: Batman, Black Canary, Killer Frost, the Ray, Vixen, the Atom, and…Lobo?! Spinning directly out of the events of JUSTICE LEAGUE VS. SUICIDE SQUAD, join the sensational team of writer Steve Orlando and artists Ivan Reis and Joe Prado and discover how Batman assembled the roughest, toughest Justice League of all time!
CHRIS: This is the only reason Justice League vs. Suicide Squad existed (that and money). Still, the team has me interested enough to pick up the first issue at the least. But can someone tell me why this isn’t called Batman and the Outsiders?
ROB: Figured if I wanted to try my hand at the DCU again this would be the best place to start. I may be rethinking that decision after seeing this, but I’m still on board to see where this goes.
KINGPIN #1
Writer: Matthew Rosenberg
Artist: Ben Torres
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: WILSON FISK BUILDS A BRAND-NEW EMPIRE! The KINGPIN has done bad things. Deplorable things. He has cheated the law. He has blackmailed rivals. He has killed. But that’s all in the past. The Kingpin is back in the city that he loves and ready to make his mark as a titan of legitimate industry, but needs to rekindle his public image. When Wilson Fisk makes disgraced journalist SARAH DEWEY an offer she can’t refuse, the spiraling saga of crime and betrayal begins anew. Don’t miss the start of Kingpin’s ongoing series, written by breakout writer MATTHEW ROSENBERG and illustrated in the heavy noir stylings of BEN TORRES, as Manhattan’s criminal mastermind returns to the Big Apple with honorable intentions, but no one in his circle remains pure on his climb back to the top.
ROB: I’m always a sucker for a redemption arc. Wilson Fisk has always struck me as someone that could look out for the greater good while still filling his own coffers. I’m hoping this works out well.
STEPHEN: I want to see the rise (and fall) of Kingpin. Can’t wait to read this book! It should be one of the more interesting reads this week.
STEVEN UNIVERSE ONGOING #1

Artist: Katy Farina
Publisher: BOOM! Studios

THE WICKED + THE DIVINE #26
Writer: Keiron Gillen
Artist: Jamie McKelvie
Publisher: Image Comics

SOLICITATION: Once more we return to the polling booth. One god, one vote. I’m sure it’ll be fine. Democracy always works, right?
MATTHEW: Well, I hate them for that solicit copy.
But otherwise, it’s a great book.
