Combining the original dark morals of classic fairy tales with a modern meta touch and more than a little bit of cheesecakey art, ‘Grimm Fairy Tales’ has a massive, loyal fan base.  Though I  am admittedly a little embarrassed by the short skirts and nude variant covers, the storytelling is complex and the world-building is creative, with a little bit of Twilight Zone, a little bit of Cinemax after-dark and a whole lot of sudden, ironic death…

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center.     What, no “Sands of Blood”!? I have ruined many people’s weekends (as in, they couldn’t put the book down and got nothing accomplished) by giving them a copy of “The Cowboy Wally Show.”
