Marvel is teaming up with female-led musical acts to help bring Captain Marvel motion comics to life. First up is The Pretty Reckless.

“Everyone wishes they had superpowers,” said lead singer of The Pretty Reckless, Taylor Momsen. “I always wanted to be Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers). I even tried to look like her when I was a kid. Unfortunately, I don’t have Kree genetics so, the best alternative to being the most powerful female superhero, was to be a rock star. Now that our song is being combined with Captain Marvel, I’m as close as I can be in the real world.”

Like the Black Panther: A Nation Under Our Feet series, Marvel will release a new Captain Marvel: Alien Nation video each month. In addition bringing music acts, Captain Marvel writer Margaret Stohl narrates the video, sharing more information about the history of the character.

Captain Marvel debuted as Mar-Vell in May 1968, and was created by Stan Lee and Gene Colan. Carol Danvers became the new Captain Marvel in July 2012.
