Maria de Guadalupe Santiago was orphaned at a very young age, as her father passed away at a young age.  Her mother, it turns out, was the volcano goddess Lupe, who passed onto to Maria a demigodly heritage that made her able to shape-shift into any of the fauna of her home country of Costa Verde.  She was eventually sponsored by Edwin Jarvis, the Avengers majordomo, to come to the United States to go to college, leading to Avengers membership for our little godling…

  1. I was so hoping to see DC’s Vext on this list. I didn’t read it when it first because I was in a super serious mood in high school but I found and read it last year. Really fun!
