Even today, our pop culture is full of royalty, with an unrepresentative number of them princesses. Leia, Peach, even Ariel from ‘The Little Mermaid’ is one, and she collects forks. I think its Leia to me. First one really making an impact and looked just as capable as the boys when I saw Star Wars as a kid.
I’ve gotta go with Sailor Moon. I mean, pretty make-up moon power was a big deal for someone who wanted to paint their nails but still wanted to be considered powerful.
“The Princess” from ‘Rusty and Co.’ (a great webcomic) She is a combat boot wearing subversion of the helpless princess trope. “The Princess” is monk with a few levels in “DM’s Girlfriend’.
