As an old due, I always kind of sympathize with Greg Universe.  He never seems to know what’s going on in the mystical world of his son, but he always wants to be a part of his life.  And also, he was once a pretty kickass rock star in his own right, if ‘Like A Comet’ is indicative of his talents.  Indeed, I know you Kids Today don’t buy cassette albums anymore, but I’d totally buy ‘The Greatest Hits Of Starchild’, were it available for purchase.  ‘Course, I’d say the same about Josie And The Pussycats or the singing Impossibles, leading us to today’s K-Tel Records exclusive query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) also kind of wants to hear if Lila Cheney is as good as the New Mutants always claimed, asking: From which fictional rock star would you most want to hear a real-life album?

Matthew Peterson

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture!

And a nice red uniform.

Not quite a “rock” star, but I’ll let it slide: Dazzler.

Valhallen from the Justice Friends. It’s Van Halen mixed with the Mighty Thor. If I survive I’m sure it’ll be the best concert ever.

Otis Day and the Knights from Animal House. I wouldn’t mind a concert, as long as anyone from Faber doesn’t show up.

I’d really love to hear that Starchild album.
