Before we get too far into it, let me just say: Officially sanctioned and approved parts of any given story are “canon,” with one ‘n’. Two N’s gets you a weapon of war. Of course, when it comes to what’s canonical and non-canonical, you can get into some intense dialogues that feel like a war. F’rinstance, there’s that rock-stupid Captain America story that claims he was intentionally frozen by the government to keep them from using the atomic bomb in the Pacific Theatre, or the third season of ‘Gargoyles’, which nobody really wanted anyway. Then, on the other hand, you have stories that you kind of wish would have stuck around, like the animated ‘Star Trek’ or Valerie, the first Spider-Woman from ‘Spidey Super Stories,’ leading to today’s [REDACTED] query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) thinks that it’s a toss-up for me between the ‘Five Years Later’ Legion and ‘The Star Wars Holiday Special,’ asking: Which non-canonical story do you most wish were still an official part of your pop-culture favorites?

That time when Superman and Muhammad Ali were in a boxing match against aliens.
Naaah, that one’s 100% canonical. It totally happened…
About a year or so ago, I would have said several Star Wars Expanded Universe stories even though they were on a separate level of canon from “movie canon”. But EU material has been slowly making it’s way to canon material (such as Thrawn coming to Rebels season 3), so I have hope that we’ll see a variation on some of those stories, characters and ideas in the future in one way or another.
But I do wish Super Sentai VS movies were canon within the overall Sentai universe/multiverse. They were for Gokaiger, and they might have been for Ninninger (several previous ninja themed rangers, plus AkaRenger, MagiYellow and Jiraiya showed up in one form or another within the series), but for the most part the team-up movies and previous series are usually considered non-canon for the current teams.
