Sony’s PlayStation Network has announced it has cancelled its original series Powers after two seasons.
Based on the comic book series of the same name, Powers followed the adventures of two homicide detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, who have been tasked with solving superhuman crimes.
Creator Brian Michael Bendis took to Twitter to break the news to fans.
this is hard to tweet, but word is that @POWERStheSERIES is sadly, no more. season 2 was the last. at least for now. 1/2

Is the cancellation of the television series really that big of a deal? Honestly, the acting was just okay, and the effects were worse than what you would see on ABC’s Once Upon a Time. Apparently Bendis thinks a lot of people will be upset over this news.
A powers episode generated over 4.5 million hits on youtube alone & people BTS who believe in us. we’ll see… https://t.co/XuPsPT0eCj

The only way this series will work going forward is if Sony kicks in a larger chunk of change to increase the effects budget to make the series look better than a YouTube fan film.
Even though I have put down the series because of the technical problems, there were some real gems in the show that were really entertaining, providing you could choke down the bad bits that inundate you on all sides. Will the series come back as Bendis teases? Maybe. If it does, my guess it will only grow a bigger audience if it is picked up by Netflix, Amazon, or FX.

I never watched the show and now I’m glad I didn’t.
I liked it. It got me to read the comic. I didn’t watch until it came to Netflix.
