When the Supergirl television production moved to Canada, there were a lot of questions about who would return for the second season, and who would not. Today we learn that Calista Flockhart is returning as Cat Grant, but only as a recurring guest star.
In the first season, Flockhart was a series regular, but when the new season debuts on The CW in October, Flockhart’s role has been reduced to a regular guest star. How many episodes Flockhart will appear in has not been announced, but the actress will appear on the first episode of season 2.
“‘Supergirl’ wouldn’t be ‘Supergirl’ without the amazing Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant. We are so excited Calista has agreed to continue on the show when she can. We and the audience love to see her on screen,” said “Supergirl” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg in a statement.
With the addition of Tyler Hoechlin as Superman, Ian Gomez as Snapper Carr, Floriana Lima as Detective Maggie Sawyer, and Lynda Carter as the President of the United States, one wonders who else will announce they will make regular guest appearances on the show, and who will move on completely.

I’m glad that she’s back and I actually think that Cat appearing only from time to time instead of every episode is going to be better for the character and for the show
