With all the teaser images featuring young heroes quitting their jobs with the Avengers, it was only a matter of time before they all teamed.  Marvel has unveiled our first look at Champions, a new series by Mark Waid and Humberto Ramos.

The Marvel Universe is fractured. Heroes, who once stood together, now position themselves in opposition to one another. Idols of the Marvel Universe who once endured in the light are now shrouded within shades of gray, and the heroes of tomorrow are fed up! It’s time for a change. It’s time for a brighter tomorrow. Enter…the CHAMPIONS! They’re coming to you in Marvel’s CHAMPIONS #1 – a brand-new ongoing series launching this October as the flagship title of Marvel NOW!

I’m rather excited about this series – or rather, I’m rather excited about the creative team. Though they may have worked together more recently, the last time I remember the team of Waid and Ramos, we ended up with a fantastic Impulse run over at DC Comics.

Champions #1 kicks off in October, and I expect we’ll hear a lot about this series at the San Diego Comic-Con.
