Among my wife’s evil special powers is her ability to get a particular song stuck in your head.  In the most recent case, it’s actually an earworm she wrote herself called ‘Throw The Lamprey Back Into The Sea’, a song so potent in it’s brain-filling evil that the very mention of the name can wedge the melody in my head.  Of course, I have my subtle ways of getting even, such as the theme to ‘Welcome Back, Kotter.’  In a worst-case, mutually assured destruction scenario, I will start singing Robin Sparkles’ triple-maple hit, ‘Let’s Go To The Mall’, which will then have Widget singing along, often for days at a time, leading to today’s nefariously melodious query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) had a particular Breaking Benjamin song stuck in my head for nearly three weeks after the last election, asking: What’s the most insidious, pernicious earworm ever stuck in your brain?

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture!

And a nice red uniform.

Theme from TV show “Friends” is one of them, at some point you couldn’t help but hear it on daily basis.
