The Freaky Friday Flip: It’s a thing.  For a while, there was a movie every year featuring two characters swapping lives and bodies and learning important lessons that deepen their understanding of one another.  It is a fascinating thought to imagine BEING someone else, inhabiting their life, having people respond to you as another being.  Heck, if we’re honest, it might be fun to swap lives with somebody utterly terrible, like How I Met Your Mother’s Barney Stinson, especially if it meant not having to deal with the consequences of his lifestyle.  Of course, my better instincts would probably take over, just my cowardly ones would probably be an issue if I were, say, James Bond or Superman, leading to today’s Judge-Reinhold-vehicle query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) wouldn’t mind a turn in Doctor Strange’s magical slippers, as long as I could ditch before the big apocalyptic magick-fest, asking: What fictional character would you choose for a Freaky Friday Flip, knowing that you could resume your own life whenever you wanted?

Gai Ikari with the Gokai Silver powers. It wouldn’t be much of a change, we’re both Super Sentai fans and a little hyperactive. The only thing is I’m not fluent in Japanese (I know some, just not as much as I would like). I just want to transform, use a few Ranger Keys and pilot a giant mecha for a bit (I’ll go to the moon or something so I don’t destroy any cities), then I’d happily swap back.

Someone who is so different and sees things so strange its hard to even imagine. Silver Surfer or The Doctor would be high on the list.

I actually wrote a story where The Doctor and I (technically a fictional version of myself who isn’t quite as disabled) were mind-swapped, but it was intended to be humorous and everything almost ended in disaster. Still, it made me think what it would be like to experience things the way he does, and I have to wonder just what that experience would be like.

My first reaction is to got for someone incredibly powerful. Someone like Goku, Superman, Silver Surfer, etc… having seemingly unlimited power would be just fun to play with.

Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture!
