I know what you’re thinking: Wasn’t Mother’s Day yesterday? Your humble MS-QOTD admits that this is, indeed, the case, but that it was also Sunday, a day when people generally aren’t focusing on the Innernets, and thus I saved this query for today. (Whether or not I forgot about it being Mother’s Day is a subject upon which no speculation is necessary.) When it comes to our favorite pop-culture mom figures, there are tons of great examples: Marion Cunningham, who treated Fonzie and Chachi like her own sons, even if she lost track of Chuck; Susan Storm, who deals with her son’s phenomenal cosmic power by treating him like any other boy; and even Queen Hippolyta, who is always somehow manipulated into nearly killing her daughter Diana before swerving at the last second. Indeed, in the pantheon of motherhood, there are a great many possible prospects, leading to today’s maternal query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) still thinks that Helen “Elastigirl” Parr has a serious claim on the top spot, as she’s brave, capable, powerful and teaches her children to be as skillful as she is, asking: Which pop-culture mom is the best fictional parent of them all?

Martha Kent. (any variation).
Do you know of anyone else who could hand sew an indestructible costume with a mere needle?
I’m seriously torn between Molly Weasley, May Parker (while technically an aunt, she practically raised Peter as her own child, and I think an adoptive mom counts) and Martha Kent.
Though I also can’t count out Sophia Petrillo.
Adoptive moms totally count!
Molly Weasley. Only someone with supreme patience and wisdom can put up with a scatterbrained husband, 7 kids (including the twins). She practically adopts Harry. Mrs Weasley fought Bellatrix and finished her off when her children where harmed.
Martha Kent is surely up there.
