Variety is reporting that director Seth Grahame-Smith has left the upcoming The Flash movie from Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment over “creative differences.”
If you haven’t heard of Seth Grahame-Smith, that is understandable as the Flash was to be his directorial debut, though he is the genius behind Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. He also wrote the script for the Flash, is credited as the scriptwriter for the upcoming LEGO Batman Movie, and is working on the Beetlejuice sequel.
There is no word over what creative differences Grahame-Smith had with the studio, but my guess is he will still receive original script credit for the movie, even if the end result is completely different.
With The Flash still scheduled for March 3, 2018, and Ezra Miller already in production on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, who could step in as the director of the movie?
There are certainly a number of highly qualified directors the studio could hire to get this movie back on schedule, and in light of recent comments made about Kevin Smith’s directorial debut on The Flash television series, I’m hoping the studio gives him some consideration. The word from the set is that Smith brought a lot of passion and eagerness to his stint on the TV series, and everyone on the set is said to have been reinvigorated with him on set. Granted, a lot of this comes from Smith himself, but if Berlanti and company have basically offered him a chance to come back and direct any time he wants, it may be worth Warner Bros. time to at least look Smith over, talk to him about the project and see if he would be a good fit. My guess is he would do a fantastic job.
I honestly feel it was vice versa: @CW_TheFlash reinvigorated me! I can't wait to go back and do it again in August! https://t.co/8AOC8ZHKz1

Since it is the weekend, we probably won’t hear word over a replacement until mid-week.
