If you picked up Justice League vs. Teen Titans a few weeks ago, you had the chance to see the trailer for the upcoming The Killing Joke animated movie. The R-rated flick’s trailer has finally made it online, and not everyone is entirely comfortable with it.

While the trailer looks great and features a lot of Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill, there are already a number of people online who say the trailer makes them uncomfortable because of the attack on Barbara Gordon and off-panel rape of the character in the original graphic novel. My understanding is the film will feature a lot of Batgirl in the piece to make the eventual gunshot even more powerful.

That is kinda staying true to the comic. And if I remember correctly, isn’t there allusions to Joker raping Gordon?

I suppose it’s one thing to imagine what’s happening while reading the book, it’s an entirely different animal to see the same things on screen. I will definitely watch this, although I remember a lot of difficult moments in the book. I will have to read my copy again.
