MATTHEW
FAITH #4
Written by JODY HOUSER
Art by FRANCIS PORTELA and MARGUERITE SAUVAGE
Outnumbered, outgunned, and out of time – but never out of Faith!

Mild-mannered blogger by day and aspiring superhero by night, Faith Herbert never imagined she’d find herself at the center of a story like this! Pursued by the agents of a stealth extraterrestrial invasion at every turn, this former Harbinger Renegade is about to realize that Earth needs a new kind of hero to save the day.

Rating: ★★★★☆

RODRIGO
4 Kids Walk Into A Bank
A fun crime caper about children! Eleven-year-old Paige and her weirdo friends have a problem: a gang of ex-cons need her dad’s help on a heist… the problem is those ex-cons are morons. If Paige wants to keep her dad out of trouble, she’s going to have to pull off the heist herself. Like Wes Anderson remaking Reservoir Dogs, 4 KIDS WALK INTO A BANK is a very dark & moderately humorous story about friendship, family, growing up, and grand larceny.

Rating: ★★★½☆

ASHLEY
BETTER CALL SAUL SEASON 2
He wasn’t always Saul Goodman, ace attorney for chemist-turned-meth dealer Walter White. Six years before he begins to represent Albuquerque’s most notorious criminal, Goodman is Jimmy McGill, a small-time attorney hustling to make a name for himself. He’s a forceful champion for his low-income clients, an underdog whose morals and ambitions often clash. Jimmy works with private eye Mike Ehrmantraut, a former Philadelphia cop and recent transplant to the Southwest. Mike has a specialized skill set — he’s a “fixer” of sticky situations — that Jimmy soon learns to appreciate.

I am a sucker for almost all of Valiant’s books and Faith is no exception. Check out the first arc of Bloodshot Reborn by Jeff Lemire. Also Rodrigo’s suggestion for 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank was a really nice book. I can’t wait to see what kind of trouble these wonderful characters are going to get in. And as for Better Call Saul I have to say that the quality and care that runs through every aspect of the show’s production is at a level that is almost unparalleled. I’d love to hear suggestions on shows that even come close. Finally, please let me urge everyone to check out Matt Kindt’s new series Dept H. I love everyone I’ve read by this guy and this series looks like it’s going to be great. Plus I’d love to hear a review of Image Comics Birthright. Thanks guys.

Point of information: The novel One Hundred and One Dalmatians by Dodie Smith, which is the property that Disney has presumably based all of its films on to some extent, is set in London and the English countryside.
