From the founding members of the Justice League to the legendary samurai to the deadly sins, the number seven holds great significance in fiction.  Of course, Kurosawa’s samurai also led to the cowboy remake, featuring an array of notable cowboys including Steve McQueen and Charles Bronson, which I have to say is a very enjoyable film.  Of course, I’ve long had a pet theory that the All-New X-Men killed off Thunderbird because 8 heroes is one too many for optimal storytelling, as proven by the 7 Soldiers Of Victory, leading us to today’s Mersenne prime query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) has been reading lately of the ‘Seven Legendary Riders’ whose insectoid prowess is unmatched, asking: What group of characters is the most Magnificent Seven of them all?

Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty, Uhura, Sulu and Chekov. From the OS era, of course.

I want to say Blake’s 7 but I don’t think there was ever actually seven of them.

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture!

And a nice red uniform.
