  1. I watched the finale back to back with the 2nd-last episode, so basically for me it was a 2-hour finale. Taken together, I felt they made a good end to the season. Maybe not 5 kryptonian crystals, but to me it merited at least 3.

Most of the finale was, in a sense, denouement. The previous episode ended with a cliffhanger that they resolved in the first few minutes of the finale and even though there was a big battle here, most of the episode was clearly a wrap-up of the season.

I loved the really “super” elements of the episode – the “message of hope”, flying the giant ship into orbit – all the things that make this feel like a story about one of the kryptonian superfamily.

Plus I am totally ok with just seeing Superman’s boots in the episode. It made me chuckle and think of Meris on Fraser – a character often mentioned, even sometimes driving the plot of an episode, but never actually on camera. I think it works.

It definitely wasn’t the best episode of the season, but as a denoument to the action of the 1st season I thought it did really well.
