ALABASTER: THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE BIRD #4

SOLICITATION: No sooner has Dancy been reunited with Maisie than she finds her lover violently wrested from her embrace! Now, as Maisie is held captive by a psychotic pair of gun-toting sisters, Dancy risks everything to save the woman she loves—even if it means dying . . . again.
RODRIGO: I did an early review of this on the MSP. Not the best issue of Alabaster I’ve read, but it’s worth it to figure out what’s going on in this crazy world.
BATMAN/TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #3
Writer: James Tynion IV
Artist: Freddie E Williams II
Publisher: DC Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: With the possibility existing that they might never get home, the Turtles take up residence at Wayne Manor. Everyone seems to be adapting except for Raphael, who still can’t understand why his friends all trust this Bat-person. So Batman takes the skeptical Turtle on a trip down Crime Alley to tell Raph what led him to don the cape and cowl in the first place. Co-published with IDW.
DAVID: I need a time machine so I can go back, show my 10 year-old self this rad comic, and high five over it.
DESCENDER #11
Writer: Jeff Lemire
Artist: Dustin Nguyen
Publisher: Image Comics
Cover Price: $2.99
SOLICITATION: “MACHINE MOON” Conclusion. TIM-21 discovers the secret at the heart of the Robot Resistance and it will change the course of his quest forever.
DAVID: This book has me hooked. Lemire has really hit his stride with it, and Nguyen’s art is full of surprises on each page. If you aren’t in on this book yet, you’re missing out.
GOTHAM ACADEMY #16
Writer: Brendan Fletcher & Various
Artist: Adam Archer & Various
Publisher: DC Comics
Cover Price: $2.99
SOLICITATION: It’s “Yearbook” part 3! As Olive and the gang continue to help Maps with her yearbook project, they recall some of the crazier escapades from the past year! Including stories from writer James Tynion IV (BATMAN & ROBIN ETERNAL, CONSTANTINE: THE HELLBLAZER) and artists Christian Wildgoose (VERTIGO CMYK) and Ken Niimura (I Kill Giants)!
MATTHEW: I love the idea of a “behind the scenes” flashback episode, especially with various creators involved. This book is one of DC’s best right now, and if you’re not reading it, you’re missing some good comics…
LEAVING MEGALOPOLIS: SURVIVING MEGALOPOLIS #3
Writer: Gail Simone
Artist: Jim Calafiore
Publisher: Dark Horse Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: One of the great mysteries of the event that destroyed America’s greatest city and turned its greatest heroes into savage hunters of humanity has been “Where are the supervillains?” Where did they go, and what have they been up to? This issue, we find out where all the bad guys went before the good guys made them obsolete! The intense horror/hero story continues as the tension escalates!
MATTHEW: This is a dark, entertaining and above all, disturbing book, but it’s a lot of fun to read. Just be careful not to over-identify with anybody, there’s a good chance bad things will happen.
LUNA THE VAMPIRE #3
Writer: Yasmin Sheikh
Artist: Yasmin Sheikh
Publisher: IDW
Cover Price: 3.99
SOLICITATION: By the giant flying heads of the space gods! Dance completions, pet stores, SEAS OF GEEKS! Imagine all of that, in MONSTER SPACE. And that’s not all! Who would ever think Luna would tolerate a roommate?! And such a cute one, too! *Awkward love interest included*
RODRIGO: I’ve seen this around but I haven’t gotten a chance to pick this up. This seems like a good place to jump on.
MOCKINGBIRD #1
Writer: Chelsea Cain

SOLICITATION: BECAUSE YOU DEMANDED IT! Now in her own ongoing series!
Bobbi Morse is Mockingbird, S.H.I.E.L.D.’s most versatile, most in-demand agent!

MATTHEW: I’m quite happy to see Bobbi get her own book, and looking forward to what this creative team can do, even if I liked her last costume better than this’n…
SAVAGE DRAGON #212
Writer: Erik Larsen
Artist: Erik Larsen
Publisher: Image Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: Malcolm Dragon on the force facing his greatest challenge yet

SPIDER-GWEN #6
Writer: Jason Latour
Artist: Robbi Rodriguez
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: THE FIRST ARC OF RADIOACTIVE SPIDER-GWEN REACHES ITS CONCLUSION! CAPTAIN AMERICA JOINS FORCES WITH SPIDER-GWEN AGAIN TO TAKE DOWN THE GREEN GOBLIN!
ROB: Spider-Gwen has been everything I’ve needed out of an alternate Earth story. Very different look at multiple characters, a solid story, and a fantastic character.
SPIDER-MAN DEADPOOL #3
Writer: Joe Kelly
Artist: Ed McGuinness
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: The Mercs for Money make their grand debut (in this particular comic series). If you thought Spidey enjoyed the company of ONE Deadpool, wait’ll you see how he handles a BUNCH of them.
ROB: Deadpool has a hit to kill Peter Parker, and he wants Spider-Man’s help and approval. Seems like this series may end up as a mini-series sooner than expected. Either way, I’m game.
UNCANNY AVENGERS #7
Writer: Gerry Duggan
Artist: Ryan Stegman
Publisher: Mavel Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: A STANDOFF tie-in! The Uncanny Avengers come to the aid of S.H.I.E.L.D. during a manhunt. The team makes a shocking discovery about an ally. What does it all have to do with the mystery unfolding in Pleasant Hill?
ROB: So far, the premise for Standoff has been interesting. And this team of Avengers is entertaining to say the least. I’m hoping the crossover doesn’t kill the momentum this had started to build.
