Yesterday, at the Heritage Auctions event, a 9.4 graded Amazing Fantasy #15 was sold for nearly half a million dollars.

We only know two things about the anonymous collector who made the purchase; first the book sold for $454,100, and second, it wasn’t me.

According to Heritage Auctions, this is a record for a public auction for any Spider-Man book.  This particular copy, graded at 9.4 (also a rarity), was originally purchased in 1980 for $1,200 as an investment, which definitely paid off yesterday.

Keep in mind that this was a public auction, a copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 was sold in a private transaction for $1.1 million.
