Tales for the bold. Ideas for the strange. Wicked concepts that stir the minds of those with darkness in their hearts. A modern anthology that lends itself to a time when stories were short and ugly. Written by Ulises Farinas & Erick Freitas, each comic is drawn by a different amazingly talented artist, each lending their unique talents to bring horrible happiness to the readers’ skulls!

FAITH #1 (of 4)
Written by JODY HOUSER
Art by FRANCIS PORTELA and MARGUERITE SAUVAGE
FAITH BEGINS! VALIANT’S MOST DEMANDED HERO STEPS OUT OF HARBINGER…AND INTO AN ALL-NEW ADVENTURE!
Orphaned at a young age, Faith Herbert – a psionically gifted “psiot” discovered by the Harbinger Foundation – has always aspired to greatness. But now this once ordinary teenager is taking control of her destiny and becoming the hard-hitting hero she’s always known she can be – complete with a mild-mannered secret identity, unsuspecting colleagues, and a day job as a reporter that routinely throws into her harms way! Well, at least she thought it would… When she’s not typing up listicles about cat videos, Faith makes a secret transformation to patrol the night as the City of Angels’ own leading superhero – the sky-soaring Zephyr!
But flying solo is going to be tougher than she ever thought when Zephyr uncovers a deep-rooted alien conspiracy. Two-bit burglars and car thieves are one thing, but when the world needs a hero to stave off a full-blown extraterrestrial invasion, will Faith find herself in over her head…or ready for her biggest challenge yet?
Rising star Jody Houser (Orphan Black) and explosive artists Francis Portela (Green Lantern) and Marguerite Sauvage (DC Comics Bombshells) pilot a new chapter for Valiant’s high-flying hero right here in Faith’s first-ever limited series!

Escape from Monster Island #1
Writer Joe Tyler
Artist Carlos Granda
Publisher: Zenescope Entertainment
Years ago, unbeknownst to the public, the U.S. government built a walled city on an abandoned island in the Pacific Ocean. The purpose of this city was to house an experimental testing facility for a multitude of monsters that had been captured over the years. But in 2012, disaster struck and the island was evacuated; it is now overrun by a bevy of terrifying creatures and beings. Yet something extremely valuable was left behind and now some very rich people want it.
ASHLEY
RED THORN #3
Written by: David Baillie
Art by: Meghan Hetrick
Thorn and Isla travel to Morocco to meet Tarek, a young boy who’s been drawing maps his whole life-maps of a realm that doesn’t seem to exist. We also introduce the fiercest Redcap of all: Franint, whose hobbies include murder, being angry and more murder. And you won’t believe which long-time Celtic celebrity turns out to be an old flame of Thorn’s.

DISCUSSION:
“My wife is a collegiate librarian, and she and some colleagues are talking about putting together a display for Women's History Month about female comic characters/creators. My wife and I are both fans of various "mainstream" comic franchises, but we're woefully ignorant of most of what's out there beyond the most visible properties. So I thought I might ask the expert(s)!The idea is basically to highlight a handful of female comic book characters; most likely it would be one Marvel, one DC, and then two "other" figures. She also wants three or four authors or artists. “

Looking outside of superhero comics for female charecters I really recommend;
Halo Jones from my favorite Alan Moore story The Ballad of Halo Jones.
Helen Potter from Bryan Talbot’s Tale of One Bad Rat which everyone should run out and read right now.
Ada Lovelace who as well as being a fascinating historical figure is also the star of The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage by Sydney Padua.
I would like to add Michonne from The Walking Dead. Black woman who is one if not the most capable individual of a big cast of characters is not the most typical choice..
Awesome show. And thanks for the great review of Faith. I’m a big fan of the Valiant Universe and it is nice to get some Valiant love on my favorite podcast.
Gosh, If you don’t know about Ravenloft, don’t talk about it! Much of what you guys said at the beginning of your talk about Ravenloft was wrong or guess work.
Great show I’d love it if you all would review Rat Queens and Jack Kirby’s The Demon.
DC Hero: Liberty Belle
Marvel: Storm
Indie 1: Thorn from Bone
Indie 2: The Rat Queens
We did the Demon a long time ago.
Okay, I’ll dig through the archives. Thanks!
This is in regard to your 666th episode and the new Lucifer series – that 1998 Fox series featuring the cop released from Hell to track down damned souls was called “Brimstone.” It starred Peter Horton, but the best part was John Glover as, a pre-Lionel Luther, Satan!!! You guys are awesome!!
