Today, in the pages of The Fade Out #12, Ed Brubaker announced that he and Sean Philips are teaming for a new Criminal One-Shot.

The scribe noted the one-shot will come out in a few months, which could be as early as April (we’ll find out next week if not sooner when April solicitations arrive).

Criminal was first launched in October 2006, and since then, each volume has featured self-contained stories focusing on characters trying to deal with cards they’ve been dealt. Criminal – The Last of the Innocent was released in 2011, and won the Eisner Award for Best Limited Series. Since Criminal was originally published through Marvel’s Icon imprint, everything is creator owned, and as the Brubaker/Phillips five year deal continues at Image, expect the one-shot to be released there.

I know I’m excited anytime I see a Brubaker/Phillips series – what about you? Are you keen on seeing a new Criminal tale this year?
