Some people spend the first days of a new year enacting important resolutions. I’ve been spending mine napping and watching the more elusive episodes of ‘The Twilight Zone,’ including the hard-to-see hour-long Season 4 eps. In that vein, my brain is in a very strange, uncanny place, wondering about what hard choice and object lessons Rod Serling might have in store for me. Perhaps the random erasing of half the comics in existence, with no guarantee as to WHICH half? Or maybe a world where there’s five seasons of ‘Firefly’, but no ‘Star Trek: Deep Space 9.’ It’s a terrible sort of quandary, which leads us to today’s paradoxical query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) would have a hard time choosing between ‘The Twilight Zone’ and ‘Legion of Super-Heroes’, asking: If you knew that a random portion of the world’s pop-culture menu was going to cease to exist, what ONE THING would you make sure to save?

It would be a coin toss between Star Wars and Superman. Both are so significant that they deserve to be remembered forever.
Tough call. I think I would have to go with the ENTIRE catalog of Star Wars media there. The movies, the animated series, the various comics and novels, the games and so on. Just about everything except the “Star Wars Transformers” toys, those vile things can be erased without bothering me. Just because two franchises are awesome doesn’t mean mixing them together will be.
However, this is really a tough call, and I may instead choose MST3K. It is such a masterpiece that it should be a crime to deprive future generations of it.
I could live without some of my other favorite things, but those two are so near and dear to me that I would have a very hard time making the choice.
