Love the show! I have a question, is it tracked whether we listen to the adds at the beginning? Basically are you paid more if I listen to the whole thing. I want to support and I’m eyeing that membership, but listening to the same commercial every week for 3 minutes can be a bit annoying
Thanks!
No. We get paid either A) a flat rate, B) a rate based on downloads, or C) a percentage based on completed sales. The more VIP members we have the less we have to rely on advertisers.
On the flip side, beyond ad reads, listening to the intro information can contain other important information regarding release schedules, company news, etc.
Finally, keep in mind that the minutes spent upfront are there so that we don’t have to interrupt the show midway through to stick in the ad.
I know streaming podcast services like Sticher will show how much of the show is listened too and when but when a file is downloaded threw a RSS feed which is how Itunes and most other podcast services work there is no way the provider to keep tabs on the file to know if anything is done with it after the file is on your computer.
Best reason to listen to the ads is in support of the show. However I think it would be a cool VIP feature to have an ad free version of show available. I would be cool with a show that just starts with the “Last Time” and goes from there for a monthly fee.
I don’t currently subscribe but this is a feature that would get me too. For me as someone that enjoys listening back to the old episodes an ad free version would be a better repeat listening experience even if it was just from this point forward. Then you could just que the episodes up and not have to listen to non-CH materials. I’m not saying the ads are bad but I’m not going to listen to them on my 3rd re-listen of an episode.
Great show keep up the good work.

My wife bought me Harry’s Razors because of you guys. My face is awesome, now that I’ve learned how to use blades instead of an electric.
Thanks for the early release – it was a nice christmas present to listen to this at work on Christmas Eve. Can’t wait to see where it goes next. ^-^
And I’ve finally caught up. Now I’ll have to wait for further episodes like a normal person :(
Interesting to see the new party dynamics with the addition of rogue who does crazy damage and with Orem finally becoming control-ly.
