Richard Linklater has shared some fantastic movies over the years, but Everybody Wants Some may be the movie that hits a home run for many in and around my generation.

Linklater got a lot of attention for last year’s Boyhood – a film that took 12 years to make, and his trilogy of Before films, but most of us know him from Dazed and Confused, the quintessential stoner movie. Linklater knows how to strike a cord with viewers by targeting memories of days gone by and playing on the emotions of those who lived during the time period covered in his films.
Incidentally, though the film is targeting “the ’80s” the title of the movie is from the Van Halen song of the same name, which came out in 1980, so for the protagonists, they are definitely the children of the ’60s and ’70s now coming of age at the dawn of the weirdest decade. Additionally, it looks like the lead is a freshman at college in 1980, which means he was probably a freshman in high school in 1976, the same year that Dazed and Confused took place.

I’m intrigued enough to give it a watch. I’m not getting my expectations up, but it does look like it will be a fun movie.
