Here at Major Spoilers, your humble MS-QOTD is often a quick affair, and occasionally dips into what we call ‘topical references’, i.e. whatever is on my mind at the time.  Right now, thanks to oversleeping and a weird schedule due to yesterday’s doctor visit, I am seriously hungry, and reminded of Thor’s steak grilling during the recent run of Hickman’s ‘Avengers World.’  If given my choice, I would eat a cheeseburger as big as my own head, and/or eggplant Parmigiano, which leads us to today’s utterly famished query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) figures that Captain America makes a mean grilled cheese sandwich with an old-school steam iron, asking: What fictional chef do you think would deliver the food most to your liking?

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture!

And a nice red uniform.

The Muppets Swedish Chef. Bork! Bork! Bork!

Although I bet Dex from Dex’s Diner in “Star Wars Episode II” is a great chef. With four arms and access to edibles and spices from around the galaxy, I bet he would make some amazing alien equivalents of the usual greasy spoon fare. But I do tend to enjoy the food from real life Diners over similar stuff from “fancier” places.

My vote’s for the Thing’s barbecue – but I’ve always wondered how food would turn out if Firestorm turned his incredible powers of transmutation and also lotsa fire towards cooking. I mean, even to just train with and fine tune his powers, the scope for what kind of meals he could produce is fascinating.
