Why should Batman have the only team-up series at DC Comics? The publisher has announced it is letting fan favorite, Harley Quinn dive into her little black book and team up with heroes and villains from the DCU.
The first issue will feature Wonder Woman, and will be written by Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti with art by Conner and a bunch of other really cool artists, DC isn’t willing to share (yet).
HARLEY’S LITTLE BLACK BOOK will also tie into DC Entertainment’s ongoing monthly themed variant cover program with variants for 10 of DC Comics’ most popular titles. December’s variant cover theme will be HARLEY’S LITTLE BLACK BOOK, illustrated by a murderer’s row of the industry’s most talented artists (see below). This unprecedented collection of comics will feature more than one open-to-order variant cover per title, all of which will be shipped in opaque black polybags.
HARLEY’S LITTLE BLACK BOOK #1 – J. Scott Campbell
JUSTICE LEAGUE #47 – Jim Lee
JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA – Joe Madureira
THE FLASH #47 – Terry Dodson
GREEN ARROW #47 – Tim Sale
WONDER WOMAN #47 – Amanda Conner
SUPERMAN #47 – Lee Bermejo
BATMAN #47 – Alex Ross
HARLEY QUINN #23 – Bruce Timm
GREEN LANTERN #47 – Darwyn Cooke
That’s one way to get people to buy into variant covers, but I’m a little unclear from DC’s press release if this means all of the covers will come polybagged, and it will be a surprise for the person who gets the variant cover? If so, that is certainly one way to bring some excitement back to the variant cover chase, but I think it will also lead to more than a few upset fans who were really hoping to get Jim Lee’s take on Harley Quinn.
Anyway, use the #HarleysLittleBlackBook in December.
