The Topps Company officially unveiled a new set of First Pitch cards in the new Topps® Series Two Baseball set, a 350-card base set that combined with February’s Topps® Series One Baseball makes this year’s card set the company’s largest in 10 years.
“The celebrity ‘First Pitch’ cards have become a sought-after brand extension of our MLB sets and we are excited about the new offerings we have just released,” said Clay Luraschi, Topps’ Vice President of Product Development. “From musicians like the Grateful Dead and Lars Ulrich of Metallica to entertainment icons like Kevin Hart, Chelsea Handler and Stan Lee and big summer box office draws like Melissa McCarthy and Chris Pratt, there is someone here for everyone.”
The new First Pitch cards, which are now available, include actors Jon Hamm (St. Louis Cardinals), Chris Pratt (Chicago Cubs), Melissa McCarthy (Los Angeles Dodgers), and Kelsey Grammer (Los Angeles Dodgers), comedians Kevin Hart (Chicago White Sox), Chelsea Handler (Chicago Cubs) and Gabriel Iglesias (Miami Marlins), pop culture icon Stan Lee (San Francisco Giants), Bill Kreutzman and Mickey Hart of The Grateful Dead (San Francisco Giants) and Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich (San Francisco Giants).
In addition to having San Francisco Giants All-Star Buster Posey as brand ambassador, the set also has the first flagship Rookie Cards for Cubs standout Kris Bryant and Diamondbacks star Yasmany Tomas. In addition, the “Highlight of the Year” autograph and relic subset, which brings the past alive by highlighting iconic moments in baseball history, returns with Rickey Henderson, Nolan Ryan, and Cal Ripken Jr., featured on cards.
The Series Two base set includes Veterans, Rookies, Future Stars, Award Winners, and new highlights from the 2014 season.
