The latest installment of Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles has arrived, and reveals Superman to either be a compassionate god or a terrible monster. You decide.

Wow. Very powerful, and scary. Not quite the same emotional impact that happened with Batman and Ace in the Justice League series, but pretty close.

Part of the gripe over the last Superman movie was the fact that Superman took a life. I think they made a good choice by changing the Trinity far enough from their main archetypes to be able to explore different kinds of themes and ideas.

However, I think they need to be careful about what they change and how much they change. This kind of scene will only get enough emotional impact if we feel like we know the characters sufficiently. Captain America did something similar in the Earth X series. It was certainly an alternate universe, but Cap was similar enough that we felt like we could understand what murder meant to him. Here, we will have a limited amount of time to understand this Superman before this scene.

But in the end, I trust Bruce Timm and I am really looking forward to this.
