IDW Publishing is pleased to add the thrilling new creator-owned science-fiction miniseries, BOY-1, to their hit list of summer releases.

boy01b boy1aPenned by writer and creator HS Tak and vividly rendered by artist Amancay Nahuelpan, BOY-1 captures the futuristic journey of a man who discovers he is the subject of a groundbreaking experiment that spins out of control and soon threatens the extinction of all mankind. With nations hunting him as they struggle to maintain order, every move he makes comes with a thousand repercussions.

“I was impressed by the singular vision that Himkar had for Boy-1 when we first talked about it a while back, and seeing it come together visually thanks to Amancay’s great artwork makes it even more vivid,” said Chris Ryall, IDW’s Chief Creative Officer/Editor-in-Chief. “I’m very happy we could make this one happen at IDW.”

BOY-1 is set in a world after the completion of The Human Genome Project heralds a new age in science, medicine, and technology, but any form of human cloning has been deemed incompatible with society’s standard of ethics. It then goes on to explore what could happen if a group of intrepid researchers didn’t listen…

“I just tried to make a story that would grip and not let go,” said writer/creator Tak. “I’m thankful that Chris Ryall put his eyes on it and brought it into IDW—I can’t think of a better team of storytellers around me. Amancay took the words and lifted them up with his ink.”

BOY-1 is also being developed for television by Scripted World (Alon Aranya & Rob Golenberg), the producers behind Hostages and Betrayal.

“These are the kinds of stories that explode into your life and take you to another world, one that might seem far off but is much closer than we think. We’re thrilled to develop the series for TV,” said Aranya.

Look for BOY-1 coming from IDW this August with stunning covers by Zach Howard (Wild Blue Yonder) and Amancay Nahuelpan as Scripted World targets a network TV launch in 2016.
