With massive universe-spanning crossovers currently in progress from Marvel Comics, DC Comics and Dynamite Entertainment, some sharp readers (including Major Spoilers EIC Stephen and writer Gail Simone) have been opining that all the crossovers should be read as facets of the same story. Though I’m behind on my reading (Secret Wars and Swords of Sorrow are in my read pile, though both have been reviewed here), it’s an idea that actually enhances the giant messy crossover format. With the Convergence books being such a mixed bag, the idea that they’re DESIGNED to be fragments of a bigger whole somehow feels correct, which leads us to today’s crisis-on-infinite query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced “pair-uh-docs”) likes the idea of a greater multiverse with everyone in it, and only The Doctor able to meet everybody, asking: Does it make the Convergence/Secret Wars/Swords Of Sorrow crossovers more or less enjoyable to you to imagine they’re all the same giant event?

Neither and both, depending which point of view I’m looking at it from.
I think more, if you’re going to do some crazy crossover, why not go all out?
Well, Titan Comics has announced a Doctor Who crossover event happening in June. Wouldn’t it be interesting if all the timestream, crossover, breakdowns were the result of The Doctor(s)? I think it would make these events a lot more bearable if there was some kind of meta-tie-in between them :)
I’d be down with that. Especially if The Fifth Doctor is involved. ;)
Considering Doctor Who comics used to be published by Marvel UK and they had a few loose ties between each other (some Time Lords showed up in Captain Britain, for instance), you could be on to something.
