    Didn’t Pixels start out as an episode of Futurama? I swear I have seen that exact plot before. I distinctly recall Zoidberg in PacMan.

      That connection was made by a lot of people when the first trailer came out, but Sandler did buy the rights to the idea from a short film just a few years ago. Now, whether or not the person behind that got the idea from Futurama we may never know.
