There’s a new Kickstarter campaign going on right now for Hero Hourly, a graphic novel about heroes who take a hit or two for the hourly minimum. The NSFW preview of the issue can be found, after the jump.
What the hell is it about?
Welcome to Hero Hourly! If Saul thought that working as a super hero would be any different than asking, “Do you want fries with that?”, he was sorely mistaken.
Desperate for work after the market tanks, Saul ends up at a company which invented a super hero serum and didn’t care that with great power comes great responsibility. They got a patent, a business loan, and turned getting cats out of trees into revenue.
For Saul, that means shitty pay, passive-aggressive bosses, work politics, and that one son of a bitch who never carries his weight. Saul isn’t Superman, he’s just another rent-a-cop of the super hero world who has to contend with everything from genetically-engineered super guerrillas to giant monsters who want to hump buildings.
It ain’t all bad, though. Along the way, Saul just may learn that we all have to start somewhere and that sometimes the best thing for a person is a hard-day’s work.
The graphic novel is by James Patrick (Batman, Green Arrow, Harley Quinn, Star Trek, Angel, and Death Comes to Dillinger), drawn by Carlos Trigo, with colors by Jen Hickman.
The Kickstarter launched on February 25 and ends in 28 days. The group is looking for a mere $10,000 to reach their goal, and are nearly 1/10th the way to their goal. There looks to be a few good rewards at the higher levels, but for a few bucks you can get the full digital edition of the book when it wraps production.
