Want to watch a Power Rangers fan film that is not apologizing for being a fan film? Want to see a fan film that has big names like Katee Sackhoof and James Van Der Beek? Want to see a fan film that doesn’t feel like a fan film? We have the NSFW after the jump, and it’s like nothing you expect to see in a “Power Rangers” movie.
Deboot of the Power Rangers. My take on the FAN FILM. Not a pilot, not a series, not for profit, strictly for exhibition. This is a bootleg experiment not affiliated or endorsed by Saban Entertainment or Lionsgate nor is it selling any product. I claim no rights to any of the characters (don’t send me any money, not kickstarted, this film is free). This is the NSFW version. An alternate safe version is on youtube.

I don’t know about you, but I really liked this piece for the snark that it is. Thanks to Joseph Kahn for sharing it with the world!

I like it!
But you know, I keep hoping someone would make something similar to this, but as an original creation loosely inspired by Power Rangers, Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, Gatchaman, etc. rather than fan film or parody.
And apparently it looks like the video got taken down since I watched and typed this.
BOO! I’ll look and see what it was removed. As a true fan film, and something the writer/director clearly said was a snarky reaction to what movies have become, this clearly falls into parody and is thus protected from Saban/Disney.
The Safe For Work Version is still on YouTube http://youtu.be/vw5vcUPyL90
Might have been a knee jerk reaction on the part of someone at the upload site who only saw a keyword (like “Power Rangers”) and didn’t bother to see the content or parody disclaimer. Had a friend who had some toy reviews taken down when a similar thing happened just because they found the keyword of something they were taking down uploads of.
It’s probably the NSFW part that got it taken down, since the SFW is still up. And, parody tag? Really? I guess Miller’s Batman TDKR is a parody too…
Keep in mind Parody does not necessarily mean it has to be funny.
Vimeo has a very open policy about mature content on its site, so unless Saban took it down only because of the NSFW, Vimeo wouldn’t have an issue with it. Interestingly, Vimeo made the movie its Vimeo Staff Pick of the Day just minutes before it was taken off-line.
