Though I’m more gourmand than gourmet, I appreciate quality food, and since I have a ten-year-old who helps to brainstorm meals, we’re often eating foods inspired by her media input.  Thankfully, the “nugget/biscuit/nugget in a biscuit” phase didn’t last, we’ve made at least one decent Garfield-type lasagna, and once bought an extremely expensive packet of Wensleydale cheese, thanks to the adventures of Wallace & Gromit.  Jelly babies were a miss, but spaghetti tacos ala iCarly are amazing, and the propensity of such pop-culture food choices leads us to today’s high-calorie query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) had to talk my kid out of trying to eat fish fingers and custard, but lost the battle of Captain Marvelous’ curry, but at least she’s okay with spicy food, asking: If you were forced to eat a fictional character’s trademark food for one entire month, whose would you choose and WHY?

The easy choice for me is pizza, favored food of many incarnations of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Pizza comes in so many varieties that it is very hard for me to get sick of eating it. I’ve had times in my life where I actually have gone a month or so of eating almost nothing but various forms of pizza. I eat it at least three times a week anyway (having a chili pizza tonight), so it wouldn’t be that much of a change.

Similarly, I could probably easily go a month eating Hamburgers, favored food of Wimpy from “Popeye” as well as a favorite of Jughead from Archie comics. While maybe not as versatile as pizza, there are plenty of ways to make add a little something to a hamburger, be it something as simple as alternate toppings or something a little less simple like preparing it differently (such as adding bacon bits before cooking or cooking it in french onion soup). And there are also some pretty good alternatives to the normal beef patties, such as turkey burgers or even some veggie burgers (I know, I was surprised by that too, but some of them are amazing).

I would go with pizza as well, for aforementioned reasons. Pizza comes in so many form and varieties that I could easily go a month with those.

Garfield’s Lasagna because I’ve actually eaten it for most of a month (well made 3 lasagnas in a month and can usually stretch one out for an entire week of dinners).
