David Tennant has been tapped to play the big bad in the upcoming Netflix series Jessica Jones from Marvel.
Tennant will play the villainous Killgrave, an enigmatic figure from Jessica’s past whose reappearance will send shockwaves through the former superhero’s world. The 13-episode series will premiere on Netflix in 2015. Twilight’s Melissa Rosenberg will oversee the series.
It’s interesting that Marvel.com says the series will premiere in 2015, as the head of Netflix said recently, that we may not see the series until next year.
The series stars Krysten Ritter as Jones, a former superhero who opens her own detective agency. It is the second in a series of shows that will lead up to a Defenders crossover miniseries, and is produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios, with Melissa Rosenberg serving as showrunner.
Good news for Tennant fans, and it will be interesting to see him play a crazy villain.

Tennant as The Purple man…
TUMBLR: CIVIL WAR.
(Lets hope they do the character tastefully and in a smart way.. because ho boy is that character an awful, awful person)
I’m not really sure how you could do a character like Purple Man tastefully without seriously watering him down into some ersatz villain like Barty Crouch Jr.
Well when I say tastefully, I don’t mean for them to ignore and shy away from “the awful”, ignoring these kinds of topics isn’t the right thing to do either. I just mean being very careful of how to portray it all.
I’ve been hoping Tennant would appear in some way in the MCU (I’m not a hardcore fan that follows everything he does, but what I’ve seen of his work has been enjoyable). This isn’t quite what I expected, but I’m not complaining.
